Last Sunday we had one of the tour Christmas concerts "The Secret of Christmas, which brings back the old times. Believe in Santa and wait for all the presents he brings. Decoration and emotions, the smell of cookies, hot punch and gingerbread. Nowadays Christmas starts already in October with planning, shopping, spending money and the shopping malls are fully packed with things. I recognized the first cookies already in October. Incredible!!! It's all a marketing like, Valentines Day, Mothers Day etc.
People are sharing ideas what to eat during Christmas and what to do, writing Christmas Cards to everybody. All the obligations one has to do before the 24th of December.... Is this really Christmas? not for me.
When I was little we used to celebrate and decorate the Christmas Tree on the 24th of December not before. My mother baked cookies one week before. The children's eyes radiant and wide open, impatiently waiting to unwrap all the gifts under the Christmas tree. How wonderful it was? Oh yes. Not to forget Christmas today 2010 we call X-Mas!! Easier to write:) The god old times where are they!!
If you look today, in different cities people go from one place to another spending money and complain how stressful everything is during Christmas. Time goes by so fast and we all miss this special time, slowing down, and sharing love and peace.
The christmas season is a good time to start thinking about helping other people. This includes providing food, clothing and toys for families to enable them to experience the joy of the Christmas Season. Giving warmth, love and hope. That's what Christmas should be all about. A time to share our good fortune with our neighbours in need across the world.
